MuckRuckus MS FAQs - August 4

User Options:

Who can participate in MuckRuckus MS?
Anyone who loves to get dirty and is over the age of 12. This 5-mile challenge course is demanding and participants are encouraged to train for the event. There is also a 2-3 mile short option.

Where will MuckRuckus MS take place?
MuckRuckus MS will take place at Grand Park (next to the Fraser Valley Recreation Center) in Fraser CO. Map It

How much does it cost to participate?
The registration fee is as follows; each participant must also raise minimum of $100 for the National MS Society.

What are the participant types?
Competitive Participants (age 16+) race a 5-mile course as an individual or on a team of two or a team of five (all male, all female or co-ed). Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers in each category.

Recreational Participants (age 12+) choose the 5-mile course or the 2-3 mile short course. There is no limit to the number of team members each team can have.

The Kids' division (age 5-11) will have a separate course to have fun and muck around in.

What are the MuckRuckus MS course options?
There are three course options: a 5-mile challenge course open to participants 16 years or older, a short course (2-3 miles) open to participants 12 years or older and a Little Muckers course for kids between the ages of 5 and 11.

What is the Free Mucker Program?
Recruit three people to register for MuckRuckus MS Colorado by July 20 and your registration fee is free. All three recruits must meet the fundraising minimum and participate in the event, and identify you as the referral during their registration process. Learn more.

How will our team receive an official time?
Each competitive team will be timed as a team. A timing chip will be given at check-in. Your official time will only be counted if you cross the finish line together.

What do I wear?
We recommend lightweight wicking sports clothing. Cotton will get wet and heavy!  We encourage you to be creative with team name and clothing.

How do I train for MuckRuckus MS?
We suggest working with a personal trainer on a program that will incorporate core strength, cardio endurance and upper body strength.

What’s the weather going to be like?
The average temperature for Winter Park Resort in August ranges from 65-68 degrees.

What time does the event start?
The first wave will start at approximately 10 a.m. Official wave times will be announced two weeks prior to the race.

Can my friends and family come out to watch?
We will have viewing areas throughout the course. Even better, they can volunteer for the event!

Will there be food available?
Rest stops will be placed along the course for snacks and water. Runners will also get a meal and two beer tickets post-race. Vendors will be on site to provide food and drink for spectators.

How will I clean up after the race?
We will have a water source for you to generally clean off after the race. We suggest you bring a few towels and a change of clothes for the after-party and the ride home. Participants who raise $500 can access the shower truck post-race.

What if I register and then cannot make it to the event?
Your registration fee is non-refundable. If you notify us that you will not be participating by 5:00pm July 20, you will not be held accountable for the minimum donation of $100.

What if I want to fundraise but I don't want to race?
You can register as a Virtual Participant or volunteer and have access to the same fundraising tools, clubs and event-day benefits!
