COC 2011 Scholarship Naomi VerdunNaomi graduated from Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, CO in the top 25% of a class of 542. Naomi participates in many extracurricular and community activities including, but not limited to, Link Crew, DECA, Girl Scouts, LARASA/Latin American Research and Service Agency, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She received the DEA Chapter Conference award for 2 years and was on the Honor Roll.

Naomi’s father was diagnosed with MS in 1999 and that added to the struggles she had with her sister having been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a very early age. She knows that, being the oldest, she will have to help her mother and prepare for the future when her Dad becomes more disabled. She says she will always be there for her Dad, he gave her life and she plans to stay strong for him.

Naomi plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and major in Communication Studies/Human Communication.
