Colorado Gubernatorial Candidate Forum

User Options:

On September 14th, 2010, the National MS Society Colorado Chapter, along with 37 other local chronic disease and disability advocacy groups, held the first Gubernatorial Candidate Outreach Forum.

This forum included gubernatorial candidates Mayor John Hickenlooper (Democrat) and Mr. Dan Maes (Republican). Each candidate was asked questions specific to the disability and chronic disease communities in Colorado. You can watch the video of the event here. It can be found under "Gubernatorial Candidate Forum" and is in two parts.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and thank the University of Denver for hosting the event. Contributions from numerous disability groups made this event a grand success. The candidates walked away knowing that these groups are driven by passion, care about issues that concern their communities and know the intrinsic power of each vote.

The National MS Society, Colorado Chapter also met with Jamie Van Leeuwen, Mayor Hickenlooper’s Policy Director, who assured us that as Governor, Mayor Hickenlooper’s administration would provide us a seat at the health care table. You can read up on Mayor Hickenlooper’s health policy by clicking here.

We were very pleased to have Mr. Maes attend the reception following the Gubernatorial Candidate Outreach Forum, where he discussed issues with numerous constituents from the disability and chronic disease community. His health policy is available here.
