EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Red Thread, formerly bkm Total Office, along with Steelcase, has teamed up for their 16th year as the title sponsor of the 2012 Bike MS, for the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter. The Bike MS: Red Thread+Steelcase Ride, presented by Louis Dreyfus Commodities, will be held on Sunday, June 3, in Windsor and Westport.
In May 2011, Connecticut’s bkm Total Office merged with Office Environments of New England and in March the collective company changed its name to become Red Thread, a regional enterprise supporting workplace needs.
"There is an ancient legend which identifies a red thread as an unbreakable link between those meant to be together, a symbol of the most meaningful connections,” said Casey Kalman, executive vice president of customer experience. “This symbolism is exemplified in the Red Thread brand and embodies the mission of the company. We help our clients identify their own common threads - between their goals, culture and their work environment.”
The Bike MS: Red Thread+Steelcase Ride takes place Sunday, June 3, in Windsor and Westport. The Windsor ride offers 100-, 50-, 25-, 10- and 2-mile routes. The Westport ride offers 50-, 25-, and 10-mile rides. The Westport ride also features a kiddie ride. Registration is $35 with a $125 fundraising minimum.
“We are delighted to connect with Red Thread and Steelcase to host one of the longest running cycling events in Connecticut,” said Lisa Gerrol, National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, president. “We, too, are an organization built on connections. It only makes sense that two organizations devoted to making meaningful connections, unite in an effort to support people battling multiple sclerosis.”
The 2012 Bike MS: Red Thread+Steelcase Ride will feature finish line activities, which include a barbeque, live music, drawings for prizes and more. Registration is $35 with a $125 fundraising minimum. Media partners include WTNH News 8, WRCH Lite 100.5 and The Fox 95.9.
