VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Welcome to our special volunteers section for the MS Motorcycle Ride 2012. This site features volunteer frequently asked questions (FAQ’S), available volunteer positions, and volunteer sign-ups. Every person who participates, volunteers and rides gives hope to more than 6,000 individuals affected by MS in Connecticut. It is because of generous supporters who give the gift of their time that this event is possible!
The Connecticut Chapter would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the outstanding volunteers from the 2011 MS Motorcycle Ride! With the help of more than 50 people from road captains to lunch servers to clean up crew, the event went off without a hitch!

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Road Marshals: Aid the flow of traffic during the route by riding along with registered riders.Time Commitment: 8 - 11 a.m.
Event Setup at The Oakdale: Aid with any setup such as tables, chairs, signs, food, trash barrels, supplies and any items specific to that area.
Time Commitment: 7 - 11 a.m.
On-site Check-In at The Oakdale: Process those who are registering or checking-in for the ride and passing out materials. A 15-minute training will take place prior to registration/check-in opening.
Time Commitment: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Greeters & Information: Assist people by directing them to the proper registration area, answering questions, and helping with crowd control. A 15-minute group training session will be given upon arrival.
Time Commitment: 8:30 - 11 a.m.
Greeters at Finish Line: Check riders’ wristbands and cheer them on as they return. Time Commitment: 12 - 2 p.m.
Event Clean-up: Aid with any clean-up such as folding tables, stacking chairs, taking down tents, redistributing and reloading leftover supplies into truck, cleaning and trash removal specific to that area.
Time Commitment: 12 - 3 p.m.
Food Volunteers: Monitor food line, serve beverages to riders and volunteers, replenish supplies as needed and keep area clean of trash and debris.
Time Commitment: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Parking: Direct participants and volunteers to appropriate parking lots upon arrival.
Time Commitment: 8 - 11 a.m.
VOLUNTEER FAQ'S
What should I wear?
• Pants, jeans or shorts
• Sneakers
• Proper clothing in case of bad weather
• Insect repellent/sunscreen
When should I arrive?
You should arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled volunteer shift. This will ensure enough time to park, check-in and locate your volunteer station.
Where do I park?
Parking is available on site.
Where do I go when I arrive to volunteer?
Please check-in at the volunteer registration table.
What if it rains?
The ride takes place rain or shine. Our riders depend on our volunteers to make things run smoothly. Please dress appropriately if there is a chance for rain. Remember to bring a rain poncho and umbrella, as well as a change of shoes and socks.
Will food be available?
Each volunteer will receive a food wristband at volunteer check-in. We ask that you ensure another volunteer is covering your position while you eat lunch.

There are ADA accessible bathrooms located on the grounds.
