Q: What is WAMS?

Answer: Women Against MS (WAMS) is a fundraising event established in 2001 by a committee of dynamic women leaders. Since then, the WAMS event has grown exponentially each year. It is anticipated that more than 200 women from the Greater New Haven area will come together at the  event to continue the fight against multiple sclerosis. Highlights of the event include a silent drawing, a full course luncheon, and an agenda of inspirational presentations.

Q: What is a Table Captain?

Answer: A Table Captain is an individual who commits to supporting WAMS by filling a table of 10 (1 captain and 9 guests) at the event. A table can also be co-captained with a friend (each Table Captain has 4 guests). A $100 minimum donation will be collected in advance from each guest.

Q: How can I fill my table?

Answer: Compile a comprehensive list of possible guests from your personal and business Rolodex, civic organizations, volunteer organizations, religious groups, friends, relatives, etc. While the WAMS event is driven by a steering committee of women, it is not exclusive to women and we encourage you to invite men who may be interested in attending the event. A $100 minimum donation will be collected in advance from each guest, then you will submit a confirmed guest list for your table to Allison Young.  Once this has been done, all you and your guests have to do is attend the luncheon and enjoy!

Q: How will my guests reserve and pay for a seat at the event (at my table)?

Answer: It’s simple! Here are the options:

1)     All guests must register and pay the minimum $100 donation in advance. Table Captains will provide guests with pre-payment forms and return envelopes (enclosed) which can be mailed to the Connecticut chapter with a check or credit card number. Once payment is received, guests are automatically registered for the event.

2)     Guests can also register and pay online by going to www.ctfightsMS.org and clicking on “Fundraising Events” and then “WAMS New Haven”. They should click the “Register as an individual” button and follow the prompts. Remind them to enter the Table Captain’s name! They will automatically be registered for the event.

3)     Guests may also call Allison Young at 860-913-2550, ext. 246 and register over the phone with a credit card. This is highly recommended for registering many people at once.

Q: What if my guests cannot attend but still want to make a donation?

Answer: That is wonderful! You may submit their donation at any time via mail, phone, or online, just please indicate that you are NOT attending the event but still include your Table Captain’s name. You can make their donation online by going to www.ctfightsMS.org and clicking on “Fundraising Events” and then “WAMS New Haven”. Be sure to click the button that says “Make a General Donation.”

Q: What responsibilities do I have on the day of the event?

Answer: Enjoy the program and your guests!

Q: Do I need a ticket to get in?

Answer: Nope! Once you have prepaid, your name will automatically be added to the event registration list. All you have to do is show up at the  event and give your name at the registration table.

Q: If I have any questions about being a Table Captain or the event, who should I call?

Answer:Feel free to contact Allison Young, Development Coordinator, with any questions at 860-913-2550, ext. 246 or by email at ayoung@ctfightsMS.org.
