Planned Giving Basics

Planned gifts are an important way individuals can help the Society. Gifts to the National Capital Chapter fund essential programs and services in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and research into the cause and cure of MS.

In addition to the satisfaction of making a planned gift, donors may be able to accomplish some financial goals such as:
· increasing income,
· leveraging assets tax-free
· controlling the charitable gift
· better serving heirs through estate planning.

Planned gifts can come in the form of:
· Bequests
· Annuities
· Trusts
· Pooled income funds
· and Insurance and Retirement Plans.

The National MS Society provides detailed information about making a gift and planning guides to help your decision making process. Always consult with your professional advisor.
