March is MS Awareness Month, and what better way to spread awareness and support the cause locally than by raising money for the National Capital Chapter?
With your creativity and passion for the movement, the sky is the limit to what events you can pull off and how much money you can raise. However, DIYs don’t have to be big or time consuming. Here are just a few easy ways you can raise money and awareness during MS Awareness Month:
• MS Awareness Week Fundraising Blitz—By clicking on the link below, you can set up your own individual fundraising page. Personalize this page with photos and a story about why MS is important to you, and send the link to family, friends, colleagues and your other social networks during MS Awareness Week (March 11-March17). Those who read your page will be just a click away from donating to the Society!
• MS Awareness Happy Hours—Many bars and restaurants in the area have special Happy Hour deals and specials for charities. Contact your favorite watering hole and see if they will let you host an event in March. Also, check out the MS Society Store (link tohttp://www.msstoreipp.org/index.php) to score swag for giveaways or contests.
• Local Business Co-Ventures—Share information about MS Awareness Month with local businesses (restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, etc.) to see if they might donate a percentage of their income one day during MS Awareness Month.
• Exercise Classes—Consider organizing a Zumbathon, or talk to your Yoga studio about doing a special charity class for donations during MS Awareness Month.
The Chapter will be happy to provide a letter of support if you are interested in approaching businesses or pursuing any of the above ideas. Just contact Anthony Francavilla at Anthony.francavilla@nmss .org or (202) 296-5363, Option 2 with any questions. If you do organize an event, let us know.
March is right around the corner, so take a few minutes today to think of one thing you can do to support MS Awareness Month!
