Friendly Visitors

User Options:

The Friendly Visitors Program pairs trained volunteers with nursing home residents with MS for companionship and emotional support.

Visitors and residents are matched based on similar interests, hobbies, or desires. Participants are encouraged to take part in mutually enjoyable activities, such as reading, arts and crafts, games, or other pastimes. Visitors are not expected to provide health care or transportation services. They are there to offer support and friendship.

What is a Friendly Visitor?
Friendly Visitors are remarkable individuals who recognize that by making one monthly visit to a nursing home resident with MS, they can help change a life. Visitors will receive comprehensive training before the initial visit and continued support as needed throughout the program.

What is expected of a Friendly Visitor?

  • A one-hour per month commitment for a minimum of six months
  • Participation in regular training sessions
  • A warm and caring personality
