What Is the Bike MS: Deloitte. Atlanta to Athens Ride?
WHAT:
Bike MS: Deloitte. Atlanta to Athens — the newest edition to the Bike MS cycling series in Georgia is a two-day, fully-supported bicycle ride that will raise money to fight multiple sclerosis and help the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society continue to service to more then 8,500 individuals throughout 159 counties in Georgia impacted by MS.
2-DAY OPTION
WHEN:
May 5-6, 2012 - Ride commences both days at 8 a.m.
WHERE:
On the morning of May 5th, riders will converge on downtown Atlanta and Turner Field (Gold parking lot) where a secure staging area will provide a rallying point for the approximate 82- or 100-mile ride to the “Classic City”, Athens, GA. The routes traverse historic towns and points of interest throughout east Georgia’s beautiful and undulating countryside. The course and participants will be fully supported with frequent, well-stocked break points, mechanical support, and SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles. Arriving in downtown Athens, riders will participate in an interactive cycling village replete with on-site mechanical support, live entertainment, and camaraderie from hundreds of fellow cyclists. Cyclists will make the return trip to Atlanta, GA amid much fanfare on May 6th.

May 5, 2012 -- Ride begins at 10 a.m.
WHERE:
On the morning of May 5th, riders will meet at the parking lot of the Holiday Inn in Downtown Athens, GA where the secure staging area will be for the 35-mile ride. The route will travel through the beautiful landscape that Athens and its surrounding areas have to offer. The route is fully supported with well-stocked breakpoints, mechanical support, and SAG (Safety and Gear) vehicle. When arriving back to the Holiday Inn in Downtown, 1-day route cyclists will join the 2-day cyclist for the cycling village celebration.
WHY:
A fun, healthy and memorable way for team and individual cyclists to raise money and awareness for research and support programs to end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis. This event will reach new heights in an effort to better the lives of all Georgians living with MS. By joining hundreds of riders, participants will be making a profound difference in the lives of people living with MS who are served by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Georgia Chapter.
WHO:
The Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society assists clients by providing direct financial assistance, respite care, MS centers, self-help groups and peer counseling, community information and referrals, education, chapter publications, and recreational and social programs.
