Receiving a diagnosis of MS can be disorienting. Multiple sclerosis is a complex disease with a long and bumpy medical history all its own. Take time to explore what is known, and begin to reach out and build or strengthen the supports you will need to maintain a well-balanced and healthy life.
The Greater Illinois Chapter, in collaboration with our national office, offers the following resources especially for you at this unique point in your life:
Knowledge is Power (KIP)
Knowledge is Power (KIP) is a free, at-home educational series for people who are newly diagnosed with MS and their families. KIP is a four-session, in-person, program for people who are newly diagnosed. This program takes place at an MS Center, and material is presented by a healthcare professional with facilitation by a chapter representative and a person living successfully with MS.
Success with MS
The Greater Illinois Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society sponsors Success with MS, a free educational series for people who have been diagnosed with MS within the past two years. This is a two-part series that delves into all aspects of living with multiple sclerosis. (Please note: you must be available to attend both sessions to register for this program.)
Topics covered include:
- Living with MS
- Talking to Family and Friends about MS
- Talking to Employers
- Financial Considerations for the Future
Our Spring 2011 Success with MS two-part program will be the evenings of Wednesday, March 9 and Wednesday, March 16 at the offices of Consultants in Neurology in Northbrook. Follow the link below for more information--and we hope to see you there!
