The National MS Society is the largest voluntary MS organization in the world with over one million volunteers. Volunteers make a difference in the fight against MS and in the success of the Indiana State Chapter. Listed below are just a few of the opportunities available for you to become part of our team! For more information contact Tricia Bishop or call 1-800-344-4567 option 2.
Events
The Indiana State Chapter relies on special events to fund cutting-edge research and life-changing programs and services for Hoosiers affected by multiple sclerosis. If you're not afraid to jump in, work hard and have fun, then volunteering for our special events is perfect for you! Special events volunteers work in a variety of capacities to make our Walk MS, Bike MS and MuckFest MS events a success. Whether you're looking to commit to a few hours or a few months, we have a volunteer position for you.
There are a variety of ways you can volunteer with our Walk MS, Bike MS or MuckFest MS events including:
- Serve on a planning committee. The Society relies on local volunteers to help spread the word about its events, configure logistics, obtain sponsorships and more.
- Help the day of the event. From sunup and sometimes to sundown, it's all hands on deck for our events. Work a rest stop, sell t-shirts, man the hospitality tent, drive a supply vehicle - there are many ways to get involved.
- Form a team! Our special events participants are volunteers too! Visit the respective special event websites listed below to learn more or to register.
Leadership
If you have a specific area of expertise or talent and enjoy cultivating key community relationships, there may be an opportunity for you to serve on one of the Chapter's leadership committees. From our Board of Trustees to our Clinical Advisory Committee, the Chapter relies on volunteers to provide statewide representation and leadership in key areas.
Programs
Interested in helping individuals affected by multiple sclerosis firsthand? Learn more about volunteering with the Chapter's Programs & Services department. Volunteers are needed in multiple positions to assist Chapter staff in delivering key programs and services to individuals living with MS, identifying and building relationships with the medical community and more.
Finance
Ideal for volunteers who have a knack for crunching numbers! Volunteers with the Finance department are especially valued after special events to ensure that appropriate financial procedures are followed in a timely manner, but other positions are available.
Administrative Volunteers
Do you have precious time to donate Monday - Friday? We need your help! Administrative volunteers assist with answering phones, mailings and use clerical, organizational and administrative skills in a friendly and supportive environment with all types of office work.
