Development Manager (Teams)

Description

The Development Manager (Teams) is a key member of the Development/Fundraising team of the National MS Society, Mid-America Chapter. This full-time, Kansas City office-based, development professional will be responsible for leading a chapter-wide strategy to maintain, develop and grow Team participation and Team fundraising for our core fundraising events of WALK MS and BIKE MS. This position will cover team strategies in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Responsibilities

This position functions as the chapter-wide lead for Team development and strategy. Responsibilities include:

  • Write and implement team plan to include growing team participation and fundraising dollars for all mass market events:  Walk MS and Bike MS.  
  • Plan and distribute team-related events and communications.
  • Chapter-wide lead for Team development, team week plans and templates.
  • Recruit and cultivate new teams for Bike MS and Walk MS in Kansas City branch office.  
  • Develops and works with a volunteer teams committee to help cultivate teams. Prepares communication materials for team captains.  
  • Overall lead on tracking teams and assigning caseloads across the chapter.
  • Creates and updates team and sponsorship tracking tools; provides templates to be used chapter-wide.

Assist with Village logistics and staffing for KC Walk MS and Bike MS events.   Function as the point person for Walk MS and Bike MS day of event team needs including team photos, booths, etc. Responsible for coordinating team lunch and learns.

Conducts research on local, chapter-wide and national teams and provides recommendations and strategies on how to secure new teams.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum two years progressive work experience in fundraising, program development, sales or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work well with a team as well as work independently.
  • Preferred experience in leading, developing and working with teams and volunteers.
