This spring, more than 2,500 individuals volunteered at our 34 one-day fundraising walks in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. A big THANK YOU goes out to each and every volunteer who helped make Walk MS possible!

Autumn in New England is an amazing season and in 2010 the Greater New England Chapter is offering 10 MS fundraising events that we know will attract participants and volunteers alike.

Volunteering at one of our fall events will take you from the shores of Cape Cod to the vibrant colors of the Berkshires. You’ll see spectacular scenery, winding country roads and quaint towns rich with history, all while helping each participant in their collective journey to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

New this year is our first ever Stair Climb to the top of the John Hancock Tower and we continue our Thanksgiving Day tradition with the annual Boston Volvo 5K Run in the morning.

Please consider joining the movement today to help create a world free of MS. Volunteer at one or more of the many great fall events; dates and locations are listed.

Thursday, November 25

Event volunteers help our staff set-up, check-in and register participants, run rest stops, provide first aid and route support, take photographs, cheer at the finish line, and a whole lot more. Volunteers are vital to the work of the National MS Society and your valuable skills and support truly make a difference for people living with MS.

For questions about volunteering or to register to volunteer this fall contact Brenda Barbour, Associate Vice President, Volunteer Development at 781-693-5135 or brenda.barbour@nmss.org or Sandy Baldi, Volunteer Manager at 781-693-5138 or sandra.baldi@nmss.org. To register online, visit our website MSnewengland.org and click on the event that interests you. It’s that easy!

Stephanie’s Walk for Mom

Stephanie Nelson’s mother was diagnosed with MS about six years ago. When it came time to plan her community service project as a senior at Merrimack Valley High School (Penacook, N.H.), organizing a fundraising walk to benefit the National MS Society was naturally the perfect idea. The walk took place on April 17 at the High School, and featured a raffle plus T-shirt sales. Stephanie also reached out for sponsorships and donations, and collected more than $3,500 to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis for her mom and everyone else who has MS. Thank you so much, Stephanie, for taking action and joining the movement!
