Newly Diagnosed

Taking the Next Step After Diagnosis

It’s hard to predict what a future with MS will hold. But MS Next Step® helps people take their “next step” toward getting the information and support they want and need after diagnosis.

Intended to be given to people at the moment of diagnosis, MS Next Step is a primer on what to expect. This new program produced by the Society includes a booklet and DVD with a short video (closed captioning in English and Spanish, and print transcripts are also offered). The materials cover what MS is, including possible causes, how it is treated, and some of the life challenges a person with MS may face early on, such as disclosure. There is guidance on where to go for more information, and a description of what the Society offers.

If you recently learned you have MS, and your health-care provider did not give you MS Next Step when discussing your diagnosis, contact us and we will provide it.

Would you like to help plan future programs & events for those newly diagnosed and their family members? The chapter is currently forming a Newly Diagnosed Council and we would love your input and ideas on what is helpful and needed by those who are recently diagnosed with MS. Most meetings will be by phone, so don’t let your location stop you from being involved! We need YOU!
