Dinner of Champions - September 13

More than 260 people attended the Dinner of Champions in Burlington, Vermont, to present the MS Hope Award to Lisa M. Ventriss, president and chief spokesperson of the Vermont Business Roundtable. The inaugural Hillel Panitch Clinical Care Award was presented to Dr. Angela M. Applebee, Assistant Professor at UVM College of Medicine, and Director of the MS Center of Northern New England, Fletcher Allen Healthcare. The Vermont Statewide Independent Living Council was also honored with the Community Partner Award, accepted by the Council Chair, Sam Liss. Hosted by Tim Kavanagh, co-host of STAR 92.9 Breakfast Club, and co-chaired by Marilyn Cormier of Saint Michaels College and Phil Daniels of Vermont TD Bank, the dinner raised nearly $80,000.

MS Challenge Walk - Sept. 7-9

The 11th annual MS Challenge Walk was a success with close to 600 walkers, over 200 crew, and 100 enthusiastic one-day volunteers! “Music and Dance” was the theme for the weekend, which included some memorable performances. Walkers enjoyed great weather, and together they raised $1 million.

Bike & Hike the Berkshires – Sept. 22

The 2012 Bike MS season ended with Bike & Hike the Berkshires. Riders and hikers enjoyed the beauty of western Massachusetts, and together raised more than $180,000. While cyclists challenged themselves on the Berkshire hills and roads, hikers climbed Mt. Greylock, the tallest mountain in Massachusetts. The western Massachusetts location gave cyclists and hikers of Massachusetts, Vermont, and beyond a great way to close the Bike MS season.

New Balance Falmouth Road Race - August 12

The New Balance Falmouth Road race draws runners from all over the world to Cape Cod. The MS team of 17 runners raised more than $25,000. Thanks to the New Balance Falmouth Road Race for our continued participation.

Link Up for MS  - August 20

The Link Up for MS Golf Tournament was packed with great golf, fun activities, and a chance to network. Bob Halloran from WCVB-TV5 hosted the evening festivities and award presentations, with raffles and a live auction, that raised over $69,000.

Fall Walks - September 8, 22, 29, and 30

The 2012 Walk MS season wrapped up with our fall walks. The chapter hosted 14 September walks in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. More than 1,100 walkers came together to support their friends and family with MS, and raised more than $143,000. Walk MS is the rallying point of the MS movement, a community coming together to raise funds and celebrate hope for the future.

2012 Harborfest RegattaHarborfest - August 17-19

The 31st annual MS Harborfest weekend kicked-off in style with the MS Benefit Auction at the Portland Company featuring hundreds of exciting items. Saturday morning, 59 sailboats braved a foggy start that turned into a fine race on Casco Bay. Sunday, over 100 runners descended upon Munjoy Hill for the first MS Shoreside 5K, followed by more than 60 lobster boats and four tugboats racing for a cure in Portland Harbor to the delight of hundreds of spectators lining Fort Allen Park and Eastern Promenade. The weekend raised $85,575.

Fashion Plates - November 2

The annual Fashion Plates Luncheon and Fashion Show was attended by 500 participants -- the largest Fashion Plates to date. This unique combination of support for women with MS and fundraising is anticipated to raise more than $75,000.


Giving Has Never Been Easier

Participating in your employer’s charitable giving campaign is such an easy way to give. Your donation funds research and programs that help people affected by MS and their families keep moving their lives forward. Simply designate the amount you’d like to contribute, and your gift will be automatically deducted and donated to the National MS Society.

Remember to look for the National MS Society, under Community Health Charities, or select CFC# 11409 in the Combined Federal Campaign.


Community Fundraising Events

Monster Mash MS Smash

Sisters Stephanie and Judy Pavao held their second annual Monster Mash MS Bash in Hudson, Mass. on Saturday, October 20, and raised over $1,400 dollars. The money will support their participation in Bike MS: Ride the Vineyard on May 4, 2013.

BC Field Hockey 2012
 
On September 7, the Boston College Women’s Field Hockey team presented a check to the National MS Society in honor of alumni Kathleen Murphy (center) who has MS. Dennison Lubricants MS Golf Classic 2012

Dennison family members present a check for $22,000 to Chapter President Arlyn White in honor of Brenda Cobb. The fifth annual Dennison Lubricants MS Golf Classic was held Sept. 25 at Poquoy Brook Golf Club in Lakeville, Mass.
