MS Plane Pull®

Saturday marked the 8th annual MS Plane Pull at the Portland Jetport. “Maggie”, our 72 ton FedEx 757 was pulled into position by FedEx staff in preparation for the pull.
Shannon Moss, WMTW8 morning newscaster, called our 26 teams to the runway with I’m leaving on a Jet Plane playing from the loud speakers. Team FedEx pulled first so that they could work out any of the bugs that often come up with the first pull. One by one each team was called to the On Deck waiting area so that staff could make sure there were only 25 participants pulling, then they walked past Maggie’s engine to take the rope and stand ready for Shannon to give them the signal. 1-2-3 PULL! and they were off, pulling with all their might twelve feet!! Times ranged from 9.301 seconds to the winning time of 5.389 seconds. Our winners are:

Slowest Pull was awarded to Team FedEx with 9.301 seconds
Team Spirit went to Frank Lyons and his BC Consultant team…because they were Powered by Pancakes!
Special Competitive Divisions
Our Brews Crew division winner was once again Shipyard Brewing 6.681 seconds
CrossFit division was won by CFCB Elites with 6.430 seconds
Scarborough PD pulled away with the Public Service Division Award with 6.374 seconds
We started off the morning with $19,920 turned in and we pulled in even more during registration to put us close to raising $30,000 this year; nearly $10,000 more than last year! Our Overall Event Champions for raising the most money with fastest pull went to the Plane Janes who turned in $4,790 and pulled 6.436 seconds.
