MS Scholarships Awarded

The Central New England Chapter awarded $47,600 in MS scholarships to 23 students in our region.

Among them were three students who themselves have MS, including Ian Finn of Lowell, Mass., who was selected for a special “Top Scholar” award, and received two years of funding totaling $6,000. Other awards ranged from $1,000 to $3,000 for one year. Ian was a member of the Lowell High School rowing team that participated in the 2007 Bike & Hike the Berkshires. He was diagnosed with MS in 2006, and has a 3.47 GPA.

The Society established its scholarship program seven years ago. Scholarship recipients are determined by financial need, academic record, leadership and volunteer activities, a statement of educational and career goals, and letters of recommendation. Applicants are also asked to provide a personal statement describing the impact MS has had on their life.
