What is Women on the Move?

Women on the Move is a nationwide women's leadership initiative joining women together in the movement toward a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS). Women who are leaders in the workplace and in the community will gather at a luncheon event to learn more about multiple sclerosis and give from the heart to help family, friends and colleagues who are affected by MS. The event offers a unique and targeted avenue to reach a group of well-connected professionals and community leaders.

Why Women…Why Michigan?
• Two thirds of people living with MS are women
• Even more women are affected when you consider the fact that women often are the care providers for others with MS
• Michigan has one of the highest incidence rates of multiple sclerosis in the country, with over 18,000 people living with MS in Michigan

What is a Table Host?
A Table Host is an individual who commits to supporting Women on the Move by filling a table of 10 (one host and nine guests) at the event. A table can also be co-hosted with a friend (each Table Host has four guests). Each guest purchases a ticket for $100, unless the Table Host purchases the table outright and covers the cost of tickets for all of their guests.

I’m interested in becoming a Table Host. How do I sign up and how can I fill my table?
Contact the Michigan Chapter at (248) 936-0342 and we will be happy to explain the process thoroughly. If you are interested, start compiling a comprehensive list of possible guests from your personal and business contact lists, civic organizations, volunteer organizations, religious groups, friends, relatives, etc. While the Women on the Move event is driven by a steering committee of women, it is not exclusive to women and we encourage you to invite men who might be interested in attending the event.

As the Table Host you will receive all of the materials necessary to recruit your guests. A $100 minimum donation (individual ticket price) will be collected in advance from each guest, then you will submit a confirmed guest list for your table to the National MS Society. Once this has been done, all you and your guests have to do is attend the luncheon and enjoy!

How do guests reserve and pay for a seat at the event?

It’s simple! Here are the options:

All guests must register by paying the minimum $100 donation per ticket in advance. You can mail a check payable to the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter indicating that it is for Women on the Move tickets. Please be sure to include the names of all attendees. Also include your Table Host’s name, if you have one. Once payment is received, you are automatically registered for the event. You DO NOT need a ticket to get in.

Guests can also register and pay online. Please remember to enter your Table Host name so you will be seated at the appropriate table at the Women on the Move Luncheon. You will automatically be registered for the event.

Guests may also call Patti Radzik at the Michigan Chapter office, (248)936-0342 and register over the phone with a credit card. This is highly recommended if you are registering several people at once.

Do I need a ticket to get in?
No. Once you have prepaid, your name will automatically be added to the event registration list. All you have to do is give your name at the registration table at the event.

What if I cannot attend but still want to make a donation?
That is wonderful! You may submit a donation at any time by mail, phone or online.

How is my donation used?
The Michigan Chapter is proud of its low overall fundraising and administrative costs. Of the money raised, 93% goes directly to helping people with MS through educational programs, direct services and research.
