Exploring Housing Options

If you are beginning a new housing search the process can seem overwhelming, but there are many resources and organizations available to support and assist you through this process. The most critical first step is to do some careful thinking and planning ahead of time. You want to seek as many ideas and suggestions as possible from those who have familiarity with the various housing options. You also want to decide on a method for organizing all of the paperwork that will be involved.

This guide is a practical tool to help families living with MS evaluate their housing needs and better understand the range of housing options that are available to them, from home modifications to rental assistance to assisted living.

The National MS Society is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States supporting research for the treatment, prevention and cure of multiple sclerosis. Through its 50-state network of chapters and the combined efforts of volunteers, donors, researchers and health care professionals, the Society provides significant outreach, education and support to individuals and families who are impacted by the disease.
