Exercise for People with MS

Exercise is vitally important for people with MS, particularly programs with qualified instructors that address individual physical needs. It is important to maintain your muscle tone. Exercise also counteracts symptoms of depression and enhances your overall well-being.

The National MS Society promotes Aquatics, Yoga, and Tai Chi as the three most helpful forms of exercise for people with MS. Hippo therapy (horseback riding) is also considered helpful for problems with balance in some people. Always consult with your physician before beginning any exercise program to ensure that your individual needs and safety requirements will be met. Yoga and Tai Chi can be done in either standing or sitting positions. This is a Tai Chi demonstration.
