The National MS Society, Upper Midwest Chapter is seeking a Web Marketing Coordinator to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the chapter's overall online presence.
    • Ensure Web content furthers core marketing objectives, adheres to Society brand standards and Associated Press guidelines, meets audience needs and is accurate, up to date and easy to navigate.
    • Execute chapterwide email outreach, which involves developing and editing content, obtaining approval from staff, distributing to appropriate constituent groups and monitoring overall traffic and saturation.
    • Implement social media strategy, making sure the chapter has an active, engaging and consistent presence in all social media platforms.
    • Support overall marketing and communications initiatives by writing and editing content for materials, assisting with earned media outreach and helping to coordinate the chapter’s communications process.
       
  • Serve as chief Web and email administrator.
    • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Society’s Convio tool and website Content Management System.
    • Serve as primary point of contact for the home office Web/email team.
    • Develop a consistent and easy-to-follow structure for organizing content on website.
    • Implement all e-marketing efforts for the chapter — gathering, writing and editing content, obtaining proper approval and distributing to the appropriate audiences.
    • Monitor email distribution to ensure appropriate traffic and saturation.
    • Coordinate Web and email request process, serving as first point of contact for all incoming requests.
       
  • Execute chapter-wide social media outreach.
    • Work with Director of Marketing to execute social media strategy — making regular content updates to all social media channels, delegating content updates to other staff as appropriate, ensuring appropriate saturation and messaging is relayed, monitoring traffic and responding to site visitors appropriately.
    • Coordinate chapter’s search engine and social media advertising and monitor to ensure outreach is effective and within budget.
    • Serve on home office Social Media Advisory Group and complete monthly reporting on all channels.
       
  • Support implementation of marketing and communications initiatives.
    • Write and edit copy for print and electronic materials, website, emails and other communications pieces.
    • Help coordinate chapter’s communication process, serving as back-up point of contact for incoming job requests.
    • Assist with public relations outreach — building and maintaining media lists and writing and distributing press releases.
    • Assist Marketing Project Manager in conducting data analysis and marketing outreach evaluation to help shape chapter-wide marketing strategy and participate in marketing planning and brainstorming meetings.
    • Ensure chapter is meeting National MS Society certification standards for consistent branding and maintain current knowledge of Associated Press Style.
       
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Maintain a basic knowledge of MS, including research and programs.
    • Serve as good steward of all chapter resources – time, money, equipment, and materials.
    • Actively engage in furthering the chapter’s advocacy efforts, MS awareness, relationship management and volunteer engagement.
    • Attend and participate in relevant department meetings.
    • Assist with other areas as needed.
    • Work on administrative projects as they arise.
    • Represent Marketing & Public Relations Department and the chapter at events and programs as needed.
Minimum qualifications
BA or BS in marketing, communications, public relations or related field and one to two years of related experience. Experience is required in writing and editing and marketing. Experience in website publishing and/or media outreach a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (knowledge of Associated Press style required). This position requires the ability to follow assignments, set priorities, multi-task, work toward goals, be detail oriented, work independently and as a team member and act professionally. Tech savvy with keen understanding of Web 2.0, e-marketing and integrated marketing planning. Must be able to quickly learn new systems and adapt to changing technology. Nonprofit experience a plus.
