Mary Bowman, 2011 Lauren and Alex Schrock Endowed Scholar
Mary Bowman’s been an active member in many organizations throughout high school, including the environmental club, band, soccer and the National Honor Society. She’s also been active in helping her father, who has MS. Upon graduation, Bowman plans to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and major in biology.

Brittany Childs, 2011 Pentair Foundation Endowed Scholar
Brittany Childs has cared for her mother since she was diagnosed with MS and participates in fundraising events to help others with the disease. She’s a dancer for her school’s performance line and also uses her talents to teach dance to children with special needs. Childs plans to attend St. Cloud State University and pursue a major in business |

Samantha Ebner, 2011 C.H Robinson Jeff Scovill Endowed Scholar
Samantha Ebner has been helping her father with the challenges of MS since 1994. She’s an active National MS Society volunteer and helps at local food drives. Ebner will attend Mankato State University and wants to major in business.

Andrew Ford
Andrew Ford practices compassion every day when helping his mother live with MS. Ford succeeds in hockey, volunteering and in the National Honor Society. He’s also interested in politics and plans to attend Boston University to pursue a major in political science, followed by law school.

Brianna Johnson, 2011 National Top Scholar
Brianna Johnson will be attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls this fall. She plans to major in psychology and minor in criminal justice. With the degree she earns, she hopes to become a criminal profiler. Johnson has developed a strong bond with her mother by helping her live with MS.

Victoria Kent
Victoria Kent would like to become involved in finding a cure for the disease that affects her mother— MS. With her outstanding grades, she plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison and become either a neurologist or bilingual pharmacist.

Abraham Kolstad
Abraham Kolstad succeeds in the classroom, sports and volunteering. Even though he’s busy, he still finds time to help his family members, including his father, who has MS. Kolstad will be majoring in civil engineering at North Dakota State University.

Lauren Kopka, whose mother lives with MS, says, “My mother's MS has truly given me a whole new outlook on life and the value of family.” She plans to make an impact on other’s lives by studying elementary education at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota this fall.

Shawn McGirl
Shawn McGirl plans to attend University of Wisconsin-Madison and major in legal studies after he graduates high school. He participates in football, weightlifting and the National Honor Society. He also takes on many responsibilities around the house to help his mother, who has MS.

Kari Taralseth
Kari Taralseth, whose mother was diagnosed with MS in 2007, says, “She doesn't take ‘no’ for an answer and always puts her family first.” Taralseth will be attending Winona State University to pursue nursing. She’s active in choir and is a captain of her school’s dance team.

Ryan Vesey, 2011 National Top Scholar
Ryan Vesey’s father has become a knowledge bowl coach and varsity softball coach at Ryan’s school since being diagnosed with MS. Vesey says, “It’s been great to see my dad fulfill a dream that he’s had since he was a strong, athletic individual.” After graduation, Ryan plans to attend Yale University and study political science.

Anna Wetter, 2011 Cub Cares Community Foundation Endowed Scholar
Anna Wetter will be studying nursing at the College of Saint Scholastica after graduation. Wetter’s mother was diagnosed with MS in 2007, and she has embraced the challenge. Wetter says, “My experiences with MS have formed the person that I am today, and I would not have it any other way.”

Alyssa Wolter
Alyssa Wolter plans to attend the University of Saint Thomas and study social work. Her mother has MS and Wolter says, “It makes me cherish every moment I get to spend with my mom.” Much of Wolter’s time is spent volunteering at homeless shelters and Feed My Starving Children.
