Talking about joining the movement
There are countless ways to join the movement. Here is a list of ways people can get involved with the MS Society. Each of these ways is followed by a few facts, or talking points. You can use these talking points when you engage others.
Volunteer
- The MS Society is a volunteer-driven organization.
- Volunteers can help with advocacy, public education, special events, MS Camp, Youth Camp, office projects, speakers bureau and much more.

Participate in special events
The Chapter offers many events designed to raise funds for MS research and support people living with MS. For more information, visit the Web site or call the chapter.
- Walk MS: Christopher & Banks Walk presented by Anchor Bank - A one-day walk held in 17 cities throughout Minnesota.
- Challenge Walk MS: Twin Cities - A three-day, 50-mile walk.
- Bike MS: Allianz Twin Cities Ride - A one-day, 30- or 60-mile bike ride.
- Bike MS: Larkin Hoffman MS 150 Ride - A 150-mile bike ride that starts in Duluth and finishes in the Twin Cities.
- Bike MS: Star Tribune The Ride Across Minnesota - A five-day bike ride.
- MS Sno Rally - A three-day snowmobile adventure in Grand Rapids.
- Ride MS: Motorcylce Tour - A weekend motorcycle tour.
- On the Move Luncheon - A benefit luncheon and silent auction.
Donate
- Monetary donations go toward funding for MS research and MS Society programs and services.
- Annual gift and memorial gift options are available.
- Donations can be made at our Web site or by calling 1-800-582-5296.
Advocate for Change
- The Chapter works with activists to improve the lives of people with MS through legislation and advocacy at local, state and national levels.
- Become part of the Chapter Action Alert network. As an Action Alert member, you will have an insider’s perspective on what is happening at the Capitol as chapter staff keeps you informed on the latest news.
Learn about MS
- Attend a Chapter program.
- Visit the MS Society Web site and learn about MS research.
- Sign up for the Chapter’s MS e-Connection newsletter.
Raise awareness in your community
- Share a fact about MS with friends.
- Wear an MS Movement Clip, MS Movement Bracelet or orange wristband.
- Start a team for a Chapter event.
- Visit jointhemovement.org.
- Hand out brochures, stickers or cards to people you meet.
- Participate in MS Awareness Week.
