What is Deliver a Smile?
Deliver a Smile serves individuals living with MS who are home-bound or living in long-term care facilities. These individuals are usually socially isolated and unable to get out without assistance. Most individuals are referred to the program by friends, neighbors and family members.
Twice a year (around December and July), MS Society volunteers and staff make friendly visits to individuals living with MS and bring a "little something" with them. The program's goal is to provide friendly visits to socially isolated individuals while also assessing their living environment and support system. Additional follow-up and/or assistance is provided by social workers, if deemed necessary during the visit.
What can you do to help?
Volunteers are needed to help put gifts together as well as to deliver the gifts. It is a great opportunity for volunteers of all ages, families, groups and individuals who would like to directly impact the lives of others.
