Peer Support Programs
Living with MS can sometimes be challenging, and so can the variety of emotional reactions a person may feel. Often emotional health needs are overlooked, as many people are unsure where to begin. Finding someone to talk to can be an important first step.
Peer Support Volunteers bring people together who share a common life experience (living with MS) for support, education, and mutual aid.
Talk MS
The Chapter sponsors a network of community Talk MS groups facilitated by volunteers with MS for people with MS. The groups provide an opportunity to share information, discuss common concerns, and have fun in a relaxed social setting!
Telefriend
The Telefriend program offers the opportunity for trained volunteers with MS, who truly understand the challenges faced when diagnosed with MS, to connect with others to provide social support or motivation. Through the Telefriend program, individuals affected by MS will be connected with a volunteer with MS in the comfort of their own home, through phone or email.
Camp Hope
Camp Hope is a new program for youth ages 8-15 who have a loved one with MS or live with MS themselves. The camp, which is held over 5 days in July, includes both recreational and educational activities to help young people affected by MS better understand the disease and ways to live with it in their lives. Only with the help of volunteer counselors is the event possible!
