Team Tents
Tents come in all sizes. For a company team, it can be a great way to make yourself known. For a friends and family team, it simply can be a place to gather and celebrate. Either way, you definitely want to have a tent in Team Village!
What do people do in a team tent?
First of all be sure to decorate you tent so as to compete in the “Best Team Tent” Competition. This year’s theme is Outerspace: Blast Off to a World that's Free of MS – and we are looking forward to what you the come up with that's "Out of this World" in your tents.
Although the ride provides participants, their family, friends, and volunteers with plenty of food and beverages throughout the weekend, many teams provide additional snacks and beverages to their members. Some teams may even choose to cater their own meals under their tent and bring in their own corporate chef; others simply relinquish this important duty to their tent volunteers.
Can we hire an outside massage therapist for out team tent?
Of course! Team members will appreciate it the next morning when they continue their second day of the bike ride. If you prefer, you can ask therapists to provide their services for tips. Usually $1 per minute, and pass this cost along to the cyclists. I promise you, they won’t mind paying.
How can a company best utilize their team tent?
Not only is it a great way to advertise for your company, it also is an excellent opportunity to build camaraderie and team spirit among employees. If your CEO ever wanted an opportunity to meet with his/her workforce in a less formal setting than the board room, the Bike MS Ride provides this opportunity. CEOs have also been known to ride in the Bike MS Ride, right alongside their employees.
Can we bring things that require extra water or electricity?
Please be advised that anything that requires excess power or water resources will be the responsibility of each team. We can not guarantee availability. Please check with Shannon Newman if you are unsure if you should bring something for your tent. We encourage you to be creative but be responsible as well. Invite your vendors and suppliers to enhance your tent. Be Creative! Some ideas from other team villages include:
- Generators
- Music
- Big Screen TV’s
- Wii game stations
Most of all HAVE FUN! We have seen participation in Team Village double over the past few years. We hope that each team will have a team tent as to have the full Bike MS experience.
