Emotional Wellness:
Emotional changes are very common in MS—as a reaction to the stresses of living with a chronic, unpredictable illness and because of neurologic and immune changes caused by the disease. Achieving emotional health will help you to express feelings freely and manage feelings effectively. It will also help you to be more optimistic in your approach to life. You’re not alone in facing the daily challenges of MS. The Central NC Chapter offers several programs to keep you connected and emotionally healthy.
Physical wellness:
Taking care of your health requires good medical care. Outside of your doctor’s office, exercise programs can play a significant role in your physical health as well. Exercise is essential to general health and well-being, and can be helpful for most people with MS. Benefits include better cardiovascular fitness, bladder and bowel function, less fatigue and depression, and a more positive attitude. An exercise program needs to be appropriate to the capabilities and limitations of the individual. Several local exercise classes are sensitive to the needs of people with MS. Get inspired by some of the opportunities below. For a complete list, please contact the chapter.
