Volunteer Coordinator (part-time)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Hours: Part-time (20 hours/week avg.)
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers for mass market events and general office volunteers. The Coordinator will manage volunteers at mass market events, requiring some weekend and evening work. Hours will increase during events. The Coordinator will also assist in engaging volunteers for Programs, Services and Advocacy and help manage the volunteer recognition program. The position requires the ability to balance multiple tasks, work effectively with volunteers/donors, and manage volunteer communication, including electronic email blasts. The Coordinator will also track and report volunteer participation through a National database.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Recruiting experience a plus, preferably in a volunteer environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work easily and effectively with the public
- Energetic and enthusiastic, diplomatic and able to interact with people at all levels
- Creative, pro-active, self-starter
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to maintain and utilize a database.
- Able to work some evenings and weekends

Senior Services Manager Position
Location: Raleigh, NC
Hours: Full time
The Senior Services Manager assists in identifying the needs of individuals with Multiple Sclerosis and their families served by the Greater Carolinas Chapter. The Manager will respond to requests from individuals with MS, family members and health professionals for information and referrals. Responsibilities also include: Volunteer and Community Engagement, Advocacy and Public Awareness.
Programs, Services and Clinical:
- Assist in identifying the needs of people with MS and their families served by the chapter
- Contribute to the development of the Chapter's annual plan and budget for programs and services.
- Respond to requests of people with MS, family members and health professionals for information and referrals.
- Provide direct financial assistance support, assist persons with MS with service and care management programs, and develop effective volunteer and community engagement.
- Maintain current knowledge of advocacy issues for people with disabilities.
- Serve as a spokesperson throughout the territory for the chapter about the programs and the mission of the Society and the needs of the people with MS.
- Provide supervision and coaching to Services Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in social work or a related human services with minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive responsibility in program planning, management, collaboration and service delivery.
- Proven experience in managing a professional staff and supervising volunteers to support the delivery of services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Requires awareness/understanding of disability and empowerment issues, knowledge and skills in budgets and financial management, and excellent organizational skills.
