Providing Quality Care to People with MS

People with MS in long-term care facilities deserve the best care available from educated CNA staff who can understand the person as well as the disease. We have developed a cost-free training program on Multiple Sclerosis for long-term care staff facilitated by an all-volunteer trained RN force who contact facilities and offer our continuum of care services to facility staff and to residents living with MS.

The program is designed to assist professionals with meeting the needs of residents diagnosed with MS in long-term care facilities. This program will increase facility staff’s understanding of MS, helping them feel more comfortable with serving this population. It also serves to help us identify residents living with MS in facilities so that we can introduce a continuum of free specialized services which maximize their independence and improve their quality of life.

In addition to in-services, we offer a range of other support services to long-term facility staff.

Services offered to facility staff:

  • In-Service Education: Training for facility staff about MS and providing care for people who have MS, presented at your facility by trained RN volunteers.
  • MD on Call: A medical consultation service available to physicians who care for people with MS, providing updated information from an expert medical panel.
  • Professional Resource Center (PRC): A support network for  healthcare professionals who care for people with MS.
  • Chapter website: Up-to-date information about research developments, programs and events in the chapter.
