Coordinator of Public Relations and Marketing

Location: Raleigh, NC
Hours: Full time

The PR and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for maximizing the chapter’s effectiveness in marketing and promoting fundraising and special events; effectively implementing a social media plan to advertise and cultivate event participants, volunteers, and fundraisers; and planning and executing the purchasing of advertising.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic input on marketing strategy as it relates to social media, media buying, and media sponsorship for fundraising and special events,
  • Guide the chapter’s efforts to find creative and effective methods for increasing fundraising event participation though marketing and promotion,
  • Oversee the chapter’s event social media strategy,
  • Support the event coordinators and task forces in connecting with their local media and soliciting media sponsorship,
  • Create an overall strategic event communication plan and external communication schedule,
  • Produce marketing materials, both digital and print,
  • Write copy for marketing materials including articles, press releases, print advertisements, radio and TV advertisement scripts, social media updates, brochures and direct mail letters,
  • Work with marketing vendors to produce and disseminate collateral materials,
  • Be responsible for the chapter’s efforts to attain media placements, impressions and media sponsorships,
  • Help to create and cultivate relationships with the media and related companies to improve coverage,
  • Work with media buyer on marketing campaigns involving a media buy budget,
  • Work with the development department to develop and implement overall marketing and public relations timelines for special events and fundraising initiatives,
  • Develop and maintain relationships with fundraising event participants, volunteers, and fundraisers, enabling them to share their personal stories online, with news outlets, in Society collateral, etc.,
  • Assist Development department in creation on event web pages and e-mail campaigns
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with zero to two years of experience in marketing and communication
  • Experience in event marketing, marketing strategy development, creation of advertising materials, and social media strategy
  • Knowledge and proven skills are required in relationship building, marketing, public speaking, communication and problem solving.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A positive attitude towards the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, persons with multiple sclerosis and other persons with disabilities.
