Sunday Route Information

User Options:

Sunday, September 23, 2012

There will be two route options for Sunday, a 100-mile route starting from Francis Marion University and 50-mile route from Green Sea Floyds Elementary School. Shuttle buses will pick cyclists up from hotel drop points and bring them directly to Francis Marion University or Green Sea. Upon arrival you will locate your bike inside the secure bike lockup, put on your helmet, and begin your journey to the sands of Sunset Beach, NC.

Both routes will offer the same safe, scenic, and fun roads. Either way you go, you will cross the finish line at The Village at Sunset Beach to enjoy an epic finish line celebration, including a catered meal. (Friends and family may purchase meal tickets at the information tent - $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 and under.) Pick up your Century or Double Century patch to commemorate your achievements, enjoy the free shower trucks, or take a short ride to the ocean!

The official finish site, located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard N (SR 179) and Seaside Road (SR 904) in the Town of Sunset Beach, is less than three miles from the beach. After crossing the official finish line, cyclists can journey to the beach safely with a planned Bike MS route extension and beachside rest stop. Whether you go it alone or wait on friends and teammates to join you, you will enjoy a beautiful ride across the brand new bridge. There will also be free shuttles running continuously from the finish site to the pier for friends, family and cyclists who do not wish to ride their bikes.

How will my bicycle get to the start site?
Cyclists who have chosen the 50-mile route for Sunday will have their bicycles transported to the start site on Saturday evening. Volunteers will be at the finish line in Florence to make sure that your bike is ready for you on Sunday morning no matter where you begin the day. All bicycles transported to Sunday start sites will be stored within a secure bike lock-up area with around-the-clock security.
