Raising the Profile of Veterans Living with MS
The MS Veterans Action Leadership Team is a self-directed group of veterans from across North Carolina who are living with MS. This team of volunteers works collaboratively to:
- Increase awareness about MS and the information and referral resources of the National MS Society
- Advise the Society on issues and state and federal policies that directly impact veterans living with MS
- Recommend outreach and advocacy strategies for the Carolina Chapters
By doing so, the team hopes to advocate effectively at the local and federal levels, to provide outreach locally and statewide, and to make use of resources for veterans living with service-connected MS.
All members must agree to a one-year commitment, meet on a regular basis via conference, recruit other veterans, and develop and implement action plans to accomplish goals. Although VALT is self-directed by its members, Kaye Gooch, EVP- Chapter Programs, Services and Volunteers, serves as a liaison between the chapters and the team.
