MEET YOUR NEW GREATER CAROLINAS CHAPTER

After careful consideration, the Mid Atlantic and Eastern North Carolina chapters are joining together to create the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the National MS Society, serving 13,500 individuals with MS and their families in 82 counties in North Carolina and all of South Carolina. This realignment of chapter territories is great news for people affected by MS in these areas. Learn more about our new chapter.

February 9: Managing Challenging Resumes Teleconference 
Do you need to restructure your resume due to gaps, layoffs, or a career change? Are you over 50 and need a resume makeover? HR professionals will address these and other resume challenges.

February 14: "Genetics, Genomic Medicine and MS" Teleconference
Participants on the call will learn how MS Genomic research will help identify the genes that contribute to the onset of MS as well as identify the environmental risk factors involved in the disease process. This information will aid to the growing field of genomic medicine and will help generate early diagnostic/prevention criteria, better treatment and a cure.

February 23: Employment-"Reinvent Yourself" Teleconference
Hear from others living with MS who changed careers after their diagnosis, along with a vocational specialist, on how to navigate this transitional period.

March 5 - April 23: "Free from Falls" Program
The Society has developed a new fall prevention program—an 8-week curriculum, designed for people living with MS who are ambulatory but who may be at risk for falling. Each week’s 2-hour program will have two parts; a discussion component focused on awareness of issues related to falls and an exercise component directed to improving postural alignment, balance, endurance and mobility.

March 8: "Home-Based Employment: What Employers Want" Teleconference
Learn from employers about what they look for when hiring people to work from home.

March 13: "Mindfulness Meditation" Teleconference
Join us on Tuesday, March 13th from from 7:30-8:30 p.m.for our teleconference "Mindfulness Meditation." Participants on the call will learn how mindfulness meditation has been used to reduce stress and promote relaxation.

March 22: "Don't Do It Alone: Employment Resources" Teleconference
Learn about agencies and resources available to help you gain and maintain employment.

April 10: Women's Issues and MS Teleconference
Join us as MS Specialists discuss the various issues affecting womeon living with MS and how to manage these symptoms.

April 14: YogaFest NC
YogaFest NC is creating a way for people across the Triangle to come together and experience accessible yoga for all skill levels as well as learn about improved mobility through the practice of yoga, proper breathing techniques, the importance of emotional health and better eating habits.

April 28: Living Well with Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis
This free event will take place from 10:30 a.m. till 1:15 p.m. and will provide practical information and encouragement to lead a full life with these challenging conditions.
