The Development Department of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society New Jersey Metro Chapter is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Walk MS and Bike MS events. We are seeking someone interested in event planning and fund raising. This may include Communications and Marketing majors, as well as those interested in the non-profit industry.

The program is designed to educate and allow students to be hands on with mass market fundraising events.

Skills Required/Desired

  • Ideal candidate has an interest in business administration, communications, marketing, corporate philanthropy, and/or event planning

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Internet research skills

  • Excellent administrative skills, extremely detail-oriented and organized to coordinate event logistics

  • Excellent writing skills – including proofreading

  • Excellent oral communication skills –should be comfortable making phone calls to vendors, corporations, and businesses

Special Events Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Event participation recruitment

  • Event logistics

  • Event preparation

  • Assist in keeping constant communication between event locations

  • Event volunteer coordination

  • Event letter writing

  • Material development, mailings

  • Assist Development Department with corporate and community team development

*Minimum of 10-15 hours per week, which may be flexible but does require some scheduling
