Research is alive and well on Long Island. The MS Care Centers are involved in numerous clinical trials to further advances in MS therapies. Here is a sample of what is being done.
Biogen STRIVE Study:
- Relapsing Remitting MS
- 18-45 years old
- starting Tysabri
- JC Virus test is negative
Xenoport – Protocol XP-B-091 ADDENDUM :
- Any type of MS
- 18-70 years old
- spasticity due to the MS
- Open Label 26-Week Study – (6 visits over the 26 week period)
- Antispasticity medication Arbaclofen Placarbil will be used to treat spasticity in MS patients.
ASSESS Study
- Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis
- 18 – 65 years old
- 12-month long study
- treatment includes Gilenya or Copaxone
PREFERMS Study:
- Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis
- 18 – 65 years old
- 12-month long study
- treatment includes Gilenya
