Newly Diagnosed

If you or someone close to you has recently been given a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, you probably have a lot of questions and concerns. The National MS Society has developed programs to give you the information and support you need to live comfortably and confidently with this change in your life.

An Introduction to MS

  • Seminars/Teleconferences
  • Orientations for individuals who are recently diagnosed with MS within the last 12 months
  • 4-6 week counseling groups for those who are recently diagnosed within the last 12 months

To receive a newly diagnosed packet containing general information on multiple sclerosis and listings of programs and services offered by the Long Island Chapter, please contact Marissa Baum at 516.740.7227 or 631.864.8337 or marissa.baum@nmss.org.

There are no laboratory tests or specific set of symptoms that definitively point to a diagnosis of MS, so confirming the diagnosis can be a complex process. For more information about conditions your doctor may rule out, click here.
