VOLUNTEER NOW AND JOIN THE MOVEMENT!
We can’t do this amazing event without you! The success of the Walk MS is directly related to the wonderful volunteers who help make this event happen.
VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
Did you know that volunteers can raise money as an individual or team?
Arrive by 6:30 a.m. to set-up tables, chairs, signage, displays, etc. Bring work gloves! (Lifting required)
Arrive by 7:30 a.m. to greet, meet, sign-in walkers, collect pledges, forms and distribute t-shirts.
Volunteers place signs along the route the morning of the walk. All route markers will be trained and given the necessary supplies. Arrival time: 7:30 a.m.
ROUTE MONITORS AND MARSHALS (HAM RADIO OPERATORS):
Provide support, safety and direction to walkers along the route. Route Monitors will also be responsible for removing the route signs after the event concludes. Arrival time: 8:30 a.m.
PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC DIRECTORS:
Volunteers great walkers when they arrive and direct them to their destinations. Arrival time: 8:00 a.m.
Help serve light refreshments at the start/finish area for returning walkers.
Arrival time Light refreshments: 10:00 a.m.
REST STOP CAPTAINS:
Take-charge people are needed to supervise groups of volunteers at rest stops. Step up to the challenge.
Arrival time: 9:00 a.m.
Volunteers are at rest stops along the route to distribute food, beverages and cheer on walkers. Assist with set-up and clean-up as necessary. Arrival time: 9:00 a.m.
TENT OF HOPE:
Distribute items needed to make personal signs for the This Is Why/Wall of Hope. Sell MS Bracelets, Bears, Magnets, Towels, Hats and MORE. Arrival time: 8:00 a.m.
Take photos of teams participating in the walk, as well as general photos of the event.
Arrival time: 8:00 a.m.
FIRST AID STATION:
Medical personnel will be located at the start/finish area for each route. Volunteers treat non-emergency and minor injuries; ambulances will be called for transportation if major treatment is required. (Must be CPR & First Aid Certified)
FINISH LINE GREETER:
Cheer walkers as they cross the finish line. Distribute buttons to event participants and thank them for participating. (Great for scout troops.) Arrival time: 9:30 a.m.
Drive trucks to load boxes and drop off supplies at each walk location. (Must have valid drivers license & insurance.)
Move barricades, take down signs, pack event trucks and more. Please note heavy lifting (20-50 lbs) is required.
Arrival time: 10:30 a.m.
Face Painting, cheerleading teams, clowns, etc....
