The New York City-Southern New York Chapter as part of the New York MS Coalition Action Network and lawmakers announced the release of $20,000 from the sale of special license plates bearing the National MS Society logo. Since the Department of Motor Vehicles launched the custom license plates eight years ago, sales have generated more than $26,000 for Pediatric MS Research while raising MS awareness. On Tuesday May 15, The NY MS CAN presented New York States two Pediatric MS Centers of Excellence, the Pediatric MS Center of the Jacobs Neurological Center in Buffalo and the National Pediatric MS Center at Stony Brook on Long Island, with $10,000 each to help further advances in pediatric MS research. The MS license plate is still available at the NY Department of Motor Vehicles and the proceeds continue to support pediatric multiple sclerosis research.
