We are pleased to announce that as of today, conference registration and hotel reservations are available for the 2013 National MS Society’s Public Policy Conference (PPC). Stay tuned for upcoming communications with the PPC agenda and priority issue selections. As always, if you have any questions about the PPC, contact Laura Weidner at firstname.lastname@example.org or (202) 408-1948. We thank all MS Activists for your hard work to make the 2013 PPC another resounding success!
**Chapter Advocacy Staff: Please forward this email to your MS Activists so that they can register and reserve their hotel rooms. Please note that anyone needing an accessible hotel room is to contact Doris Lill (rather than book their own room). As individuals begin registering, I will communicate directly with conference registrants. I will always CC chapter advocacy staff so that you are aware of conference developments.
Dates and Hotel: The 2013 PPC will be held Monday, March 4 – Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel (2800 South Potomac Ave., Arlington, VA). This is a *new* conference hotel that is only half a mile from Reagan National Airport (airport code DCA). We strongly encourage conference attendees to fly into DCA.
PPC Conference Registration: Each person attending the conference must register via this site. Detailed instructions for registration and FAQ are attached. Please refer to these instructions and FAQ prior to contacting the Public Policy Office with any difficulties, as many items are addressed in this document. If you continue to experience difficulty with registration, email email@example.com.
Hotel Reservations: Hotel reservations must be made by Friday, February 15 through this reservation website or by calling 1-800-228-9290. If a conference participant requires an accessible hotel room, s/he cannot reserve through the hotel’s site or phone line; s/he must contact Doris Lill as detailed below. The Society’s room rate for the PPC is $280/night.
Free Hotel Room: For the 2013 PPC, the Public Policy Office will cover the cost of one hotel room per chapter (if a state has multiple chapters in its jurisdiction) and one hotel room per state (if a chapter has multiple states in its jurisdiction). The participant must first make the hotel reservation and then submit the completed attached Free Hotel Room form to the Public Policy Office by Friday, January 25.
Accessibility Needs: The processes for accessible hotel rooms and accessible transportation are the same as last year.
Travel Arrangements: While the PPC agenda is still being finalized, when making travel arrangements, everyone should plan to arrive at the PPC hotel around 2:30 PM on Monday, March 4. GRC Chairs and chapter advocacy staff have to arrive earlier—around 12:00 PM on Monday, March 4. We strongly encourage conference attendees to fly into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (airport code "DCA")—it is less than half a mile from the PPC hotel. At least an hour additional travel time to get to the PPC hotel is necessary if arriving at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) or Dulles International Airport (IAD).
Visit Coordinator Call: If you will be scheduling Capitol Hill visits for your state(s), we are hosting a Visit Coordinator Call on Monday, January 7 at 3:00 pm ET/2:00 pm CT/1:00 pm MT/12:00 pm PT/11:00 am Alaska/10:00 am Hawaii. An Outlook meeting request was sent by Leigh-Anne Cade with the call-in information.
