Join us for a weekend of fun and excitement at Camp Connect, a kids’ camp hosted by the National MS Society, Ohio Buckeye Chapter. Throughout the weekend kids will have the opportunity to get to know others sharing in a similar situation - having a parent living with MS.
Activities will include swimming, canoeing, sports, and arts and crafts just to name a few. There will also be informational sessions about multiple sclerosis, feelings experienced, and other hard to discuss topics for children.
Anyone living in the state of Ohio is welcome to submit an application for campers or camp counselors.
Campers - download application
All campers must be entering grades 2 through 8 in August 2013 and have MS or have a parent with MS.
If interested in submitting an application for a camper, please complete a separate application for each child applying from your family. All forms must be signed and returned by April 30.
Program Fee
There is a fee of $50 per child. Upon acceptance, you will receive detailed information and a billing invoice. Please DO NOT send in payment with the application. We will contact you regarding payment after the application deadline.
All meals and overnight accommodations will be provided. There will be no additional costs outside of the program fee.
Acceptance
Space is limited and therefore completing an application does not guarantee camper acceptance. Every application is carefully reviewed to assure medical and safety needs can be met. To help us plan, please note any current emotional, medical or behavioral concerns for each camper. Although we strive to provide equal opportunity and will work with you to plan for special needs, we may not be able to accommodate every child.
Families will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis once the application is received. Please submit completed applications as soon as possible to secure a spot. Complete camp information (what to bring and more) will be sent later upon acceptance.
Counselors - download application
We are currently taking applications for camp counselors. Each counselor will have a small group of campers that he/she will oversee. Counselors will travel with their group throughout the weekend, assist with various activities, as well as supervise them overnight in a cabin.
Counselors will be required to attend one mandatory training session and be onsite at Camp Lazarus from the morning of June 7 to the evening of June 9. Counselors will be provided meals throughout the weekend but please note that this is a volunteer position and camp counselors will not be paid.
Acceptance
Space for counselors at Camp Connect is limited and therefore completing an application does not guarantee acceptance. Every application is carefully reviewed to assure that each volunteer that is selected is placed in the position where they will be most successful.
Volunteers will be notified of acceptance in May. A background check will be conducted on all volunteer counselors selected.
