The Ohio Valley Chapter may be able to provide assistance with temporary financial difficulties that are a result of living with MS.
In order to ensure that we provide the most appropriate and personalized response, all members must complete an application for direct assistance. The Chapter’s Direct Services Coordinator will follow up to review the application and obtain additional information if needed. Financial need is demonstrated by current circumstances as well as income/expenses, and not by a specific income guideline. We understand that MS can cause unpredictable life events, and that it is expensive to live with MS even on a relatively high income.
If you demonstrate temporary financial need, then we may be able to assist with the following:
• Respite Services
• DME
• Accessibility Modifications
• Transportation
• Basic needs
• Health and Wellness Support
Other community resources must be explored prior to or along with the application for Chapter funds. The Chapter’s Direct Services Coordinator will be able to assist in identification of those resources, and referral when needed. Members who have more complex needs, or who need assistance following up on referrals, may additionally have the option of participating in our Support and Service program.
Members with long-term financial planning needs, legal issues or questions, credit counseling or other more serious financial needs will be referred to appropriate resources in lieu of or in addition to receipt of Chapter funds, depending on individual circumstances.
