The National MS Society created their scholarship program in 2003 to help qualified students who have been diagnosed with MS or who have a parent with MS achieve their dreams of going to college because having MS should never stand in the way of an education.
In its first year of operation the program awarded 36 scholarships for a total of $68,000; in 2010 nearly $1 million was awarded to 470 scholars.
Scholarship applications for 2012 awards will be accepted begining January 13, 2012 and decisions will be made by May, 2012.
