Wellness

Staying active physically, socially and mentally is an important part of overcoming the challenges of living with MS. The Greater Delaware Valley Chapter wants to help you focus on making sustainable life changes so that you can live your most healthful life with MS. Admittedly, we’re not the experts in this field, and that’s why we’ve partnered with local and national health-promoting agencies that focus on presenting these important programs. Below are some of our partners:

  • Good Shepherd Rehab Hospital: MS Wellness Program (Allentown, Pa.)
  • West Chester Area YMCA: adaptive fitness classes (West Chester, Pa.)
  • Can Do Multiple Sclerosis: local programs & national webinars (national)
  • National Center on Health, Physical Activity, & Disability: program database & information resource (national)
  • Multiple Sclerosis Foundation: local programs and information resource (national)
  • Adaptive Exercise Classes:
    • Pilates (Newtown, Pa.)
      • Pilates builds and strengthens muscles that aid in balance, walking, stamina and core conditioning. Please call to register to be sure space is still available.

    • Yoga (Philadelphia, Pa.)
      • Yoga classes are designed to effectively improve muscle tone and circulation. Gentle Yoga helps strengthen, stretch and relax muscle groups and build concentration.
      • Mondays, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

      • Fee: $10 for drop-in class, $50 for 8-week session
