Energy Bill Assistance

People living with MS in Cape May, Burlington, Cumberland, Salem, Atlantic, Camden and Gloucester counties can apply for energy bill payment assistance through the NJ Shares program after they first apply for a Temporary Relief of Utility Expenses (TRUE) Grant through the Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA).

To aply for a TRUE Grant, please call 732-982-8710.

NJ Shares will provide grants for people who have been denied a TRUE grant, based on available funding.

NJ Shares provides energy assistance to moderate and fixed-income households experiencing a financial crisis. Eligibility is based on household size and income. Recipients are families and individuals who do not qualify for federal and state assistance programs due to the household's income.

NJ Shares grant amounts can be up to $700 for heating source (gas, propane and electrical heat) and can be up to $300 for electric service. Grants must result in continuance and/or restoration of service.
