Mission Overview
Members of the MSWorks Business Advisory Council (BAC) support the goal of matching job-ready individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) in competitive employment opportunities through assistance in designing and implementing new employment services for the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National MS Society.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocating on behalf of MSWorks job seekers wherever possible, either within their own companies or in the community at large
- Marketing MSWorks’ programs to the general business community through personal and professional networks in order to enhance the knowledge base about MSWorks and to encourage other employees to use its services
- Interviewing job candidates for actual positions within their companies or giving informational interviews to prepare these candidates for future positions
- Providing financial resources whenever possible through their own corporate foundations, through community contacts, or by donations in kind
- Identifying employment opportunities within their own companies and contacting the applicant and the MSWorks staff member
- Advising Employment Services Manager (ESM) about corporate issues and trends and sharing job leads
- Conducting workshops as requested by ESM and volunteering as a guest speaker
Training:
A general orientation to the society and chapter will be provided. Any additional training that may be relevant to the group will also be provided as needed.
Support:
The employment services manager will provide any necessary support to the members of the committee.
Commitment:
Committee members are asked to attend 3-5 meetings per year for the duration of two years. Committee members are also asked to be available for 2-6 hours if asked to provide mock interviews with clients, donate space for workshops (if applicable), and/or be a guest speaker for a workshop provided by the MS Society.
Qualifications:
- Degree or relevant experience in rehabilitation vocational counseling, human resources or experience in the corporate world as a high level professional
- Commitment to the mission of the National MS Society
