Position Overview
The event publicists will have the important role of spreading awareness about the Society’s fundraising events in media throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a database of event calendars for newspapers, radio stations, TV and websites
- Contact event calendars to list fundraising events, including Walk MS, Bike MS, Mud Run Philly and Women Against MS
Initial Impact:
People who may not be connected to the chapter in any other way will learn about and attend our fundraising events.
Sustained Outcome:
The Society will gain greater awareness in the communities we serve and build long-term relationships with new audiences.
Training:
Orientation to the chapter and local media environment will be provided.
Support:
The volunteer will be supported by the chapter staff in the communications department. Supervisory check-in meetings will take place monthly at the least, and more frequently before fundraising events.
Commitment:
The development of the database will take several months; placing events on the calendar will be ongoing and cyclical, with main activity between April and October.
