Frequently Asked Questions

>How do I register for the event in which I want to participate?
Please visit the website of the respective marathon/half-marathon/5k run/etc. in which you are participating. Run to Stop MS is a separate entity of each of these races. Please register with your respective event AND with Run to Stop MS. For the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon and it's related events, you will need to register on the Chapter's website, click here.

>What is the minimum fundraising requirement?
For the Pittsburgh Marathon, there are minimum fundraising goals in order to receive your bib. Full/Half Marathoners must raise $550, Individual Relay participants must raise $250 and 5k participants must raise $150. For all other running events, there is no minimum, but we encourage each participant to set a fundraising goal of $500. In order to qualify for our 2 levels of fundraising prizes, you must either reach a fundraising level of $500 or $1,000.

>How do I raise money for Run to Stop MS?
The National MS Society has excellent online tools to help you reach your goal!  First, start by setting your goal – and then tell everyone about it!  We’ll help you set up your personal web page where you can put pictures, talk about why you Run, or your connection to MS. We have sample fundraising letters and emails that you can send out directly from your webpage – an then sit back and watch the dollars come in!  Maybe you’re running a marathon – ask 20 people to give you $1 for every mile you run and you’ll EXCEED you’re goal of $500! The possibilities are endless. Your supporters can also support you the old fashioned way by giving you checks (made payable to the National MS Society) – and you can enter them directly to your webpage! We’ll provide you with all the details in your Run to Stop MS Handbook!
