Employment Opportunities:
The Mid South Chapter is currently in need of three interns to help us with our Advocacy and Grantsmanship efforts. These internships are an excellent opportunity to gain a variety of “hands-on” experience with a national non-profit organization.
Advocacy Intern:
-Become familiar with local, state, and federal government health related policy issues; pre vention and healthcare advocacy.
-Obtain a meaningful understanding of how the legislative process impacts people living with multiple sclerosis and other related disabilities.
-Learn vital collaborating skills to work with partner organizations and client advocates on policy campaigns.
-Gain insight on how to track legislation and how grassroots efforts support policy change.
-Assist in building and working with an Advocacy Committee.
-Have the opportunity to meet with local, state, and federal politicians.
-Learn how to draft action alert emails and assist with organizing Public Policy Day on The Hill.
Grantsmanship Intern:
-Researching and locating funding sources whose mission and goals are aligned with the Mid South Chapter’s.
-Identifying foundations, corporations, state and local government agencies, by using a variety of reference materials.
-Evaluate and analyze giving history of organizations.
-Identifying decision makers and potential donors.
-Writing and reviewing proposals and grants to be submitted to identified organizations.
Development Intern:
-Researching and identifying potential sponsors.
-Calling past participants.
-Experience in InDesign and Microsoft Publisher to create event marketing materials.
-Perform bulk mailings.
-Marketing and promoting chapter events.
-Creating and updating volunteer data bases.
