MS shouldn't stand in the way of education. The National MS Society's scholarship program exists to help highly qualified students who have been diagnosed with MS or who have a parent with MS achieve their dreams of going to college.
The applications for the program are available from October 1 to Mid-January.
For the 2012 program year, the South Central Region of the National MS Society was able to offer 48 scholarships to High School Seniors. In Texas, 23 students were awarded scholarships for the 2012-13 school year.
Rebekah Boone (Houston, Texas)
• Graduate of Challenge Early College High School
• Plans to Attend: St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas
• During her high school career, Rebekah participated on the Women’s Lacrosse team, in the Drama Club, Interact Club, LGBT Club, Live Music Club, and the Hebrew Club. She is also an active volunteer with the National MS Society in Houston, as well as, an active volunteer in her community.
• Future Goals: to major in International Affairs and Relations and Psychology, so that she can help others while learning about different cultures / societies.

Nicholas Booth (Bellville, Texas)
• Graduate of Bellville High School
• Plans to Attend: Blinn College in Brenham, Texas
• During his high school career, Nicholas participated in Band and Future Farmers of America. He has also received his Eagle Scout Award.
• Future Goals: to attend Blinn College for two years in order to get a basic Business degree. After, he plans to attend the Houston Campus of UTI to take the automotive and diesel certification classes. This will give him the knowledge to open up his own business and run it successfully.

Taylor Felderhoff (Gruver, Texas)
• Graduate of Gruver High School
• Plans to Attend: Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
• During her high school career, Samantha has participated on the Yearbook staff, Cross Country, Basketball, and Track teams. She has also been a class officer, and a member of the National Honor Society, as well as, an active volunteer in her community.
• Future Goals: to major in Sports Medicine and minor in Education, so that she can pursue a career as a Teacher/Coach.

Sydney Flynn (Vernon, Texas)
• Graduate of Vernon High School
• Plans to Attend: Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
• During her high school career, Sydney participated in Student Council, Key Club, Yearbook, Crime-stoppers, Science Club, Robotics Team, as a PALS Mentor, and on the JV Tennis Team. She has also been active in her community and church.
• Future Goals: to major in Interior Design with a minor in Photography. She would love the opportunity to open an interior design shop for home décor, as well as, to design sensory rooms for a disabled community.

• Future Goals: to major in Business, in order to pursue a career in the Accounting industry.

• Future Goals: to earn her Bachelor’s degree and then to pursue her Master’s degree in Psychology or to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist.
